Recording Secretary for the Planning Commission
A recording secretary is needed to serve on the township’s planning commission. Candidates do not need to be residents of the township, but preference is given to residents.
The recording secretary shall be responsible for taking notes at meetings and drafting minutes that capture the commission’s recommendations and general discussion. Meeting minutes are not transcripts; they are summaries of the meeting’s key discussions. General training and assistance may be provided on a case-by-case basis.
The planning commission is scheduled to meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the municipal building, 721 Unionville Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
Meetings typically run for 60 minutes but may be longer or shorter depending on the agenda items.
Pay rate: $100 per meeting attended.

The Planning Commission reviews conditional use, subdivision, and land development applications, elicits testimony from applicants appearing at meetings, and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding plan approval. In addition, the duties of the Planning Commission include periodically updating the regional comprehensive plan and the Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development ordinances, which are submitted to the Board of Supervisors in the form of recommendations, and other activities the Board of Supervisors may request of the Planning Commission pursuant to the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
