Starting on Monday, 5/4/26, the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) will once again conduct its annual Mosquito-Borne Disease Control program. This includes:
Adult Mosquitoes:
- Monitoring mosquito populations through trap deployment and collection.
- Testing collected mosquitoes for West Nile Virus (WNV) and other mosquito-borne diseases.
- Control treatments targeting adult mosquitoes as needed.
- Responding to mosquito-related complaints.
- Public education and outreach.
Larval Mosquitoes:
- Collection of larval mosquitoes from standing water.
- Treatment of larval mosquito habitat using EPA-registered larval control products.
- Public education and outreach.
Each week, approximately 32-40 mosquito traps will be deployed and collected to monitor adult mosquito populations throughout the county.
