Frequently Asked QuestionsHow can I obtain Township Records?East Marlborough has an Open Records Policy which establishes the way to view all public records. You can read the Policy and print an application by clicking on the links below. Is burning permitted?East Marlborough discourages burning; the Township prohibits the smoke and air pollution that travels onto neighbors’ property. It is impossible to burn leaves at any time without creating dangerous and bothersome smoke. Dry brush can sometimes be burned, PROVIDED that there is no wind to carry any smoke, odors, or sparks onto adjacent properties. SECCRA Landfill, on Route 926, will accept bagged leaves, as well as branches and brush. The material must be transported in a covered vehicle. Also, the East Marlborough road crew will chip up branches which have fallen in a storm; we will not provide chipping service for trees and branches that the landowner has taken down. You may call the Township Public Works to arrange for chipping service at 610-444-1375. Please consider your neighbors and the environment before igniting any brush fires. How often should maintenance be performed on my on-site sewage system?According to the Chester County Health Department, "... it is important to have regular maintenance performed on an on-lot sewage system to ensure that it will function properly. The frequency of pumping depends on the capacity of the septic tank, the amount of wastewater generated, and the volume of solids in the wastewater. The more people per household, the more frequently the tank will have to be pumped. Generally, the system should be pumped every two to three years."
