PLANNING COMMISSION

MINUTES OF May 1, 2007

 

Mark Benzel, chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:30pm in the township building. Additional commissioners present were Susan Beach, MaryNell Ferry, Buzz Hannum, Jr., Chris Kimmel, Pat Montague and Nancy Olson.

 

1.  Minutes of March 27, 2007 –Motion to approve Commissioner Ferry,

      2nd Commissioner Beach. Approved.

 

2.  Glenelg – Lot Consolidation Plan – Presenter Rob Pearson

            Mr. Pearson provided background information, and the commissioners reviewed           the March 2, 2007 letter from township engineer, Jim Hatfield.

            Motion by Commissioner Ferry to grant final approval subject to fulfilling all the             requirements of Jim Hatfield’s March 2, 2007 letter. 2nd Commissioner Beach.

            Approved.

 

3.  Grace Fellowship Church-Conditional Use Application-Presenter George Asimos.

            Commissioners heard an introduction by Mr. Asimos regarding the newly formed

            church. Commissioners reviewed the April 27, 2007 letter from township          engineer, Jim Hatfield. Mr. Asimos provided for the board’s review several             architectural renderings of the church plans slated for construction on property

            purchased by the church from the Unionville Grange. The church plans to retain             the existing Grange structure and add to this historically significant property.

            The additions will reflect a similar style to the Grange Hall. Commissioners

            discussed with the applicant traffic flow, Cemetery Lane, access from Rt. 842

            (requires purchase of property from Musser family), impact on neighbors           (meeting with neighbors has already taken place), water and sewage plans,   wooded areas, building footprint and storm water management. No action taken

            Applicant to proceed to conditional use hearing.

 

4.  Pietro Industries/Alonzo family-request to add 11+ acres to Agricultural Security

            District – Parcels along Schoolhouse Road. No representation. Commissioners

            reviewed information packet provided. It is the consensus of the Planning           Commission that there is no objection to this application.

           

5. Commissioner Beach brought to the board’s attention a situation at Hadley’s Mill Rd.

            and Walnut Rd. A school van stops at this intersection to pick up students. Parents        park along Hadley’s Mill Rd. causing the van to make a potentially dangerous      maneuver in order to turn around after student pick up. Commissioners agreed

            that this issue should be brought to the attention of the UCF transportation         supervisor.
